We're all saying prayers for my sister-in-law Becky tonight. This is picture of her and my brother Scott in Ireland. Becky is relatively new to the family and we all thank Scott for bringing her to us. I don't know anyone who is capable of having as much fun as she and my brother do. Today she had to have some unexpected abdominal surgery, and we're all thankful that she came through it just fine. So we'll keep saying prayers until she can go home. Becky, know that we love you.

Halloween Preparations

The weather is starting to feel fallish and today we started prepping the house for Halloween. So far it's just two pumpkins sitting on the front porch, but it's a start. The pumpkins have a lot of character and I paid a price that I was more than comfortable with, leaving me with budget to continue decorating. I found some lovely gourds at Smart 'N Final, but I haven't found a home for them yet. We still have to place things well out of reach of little hands.

Rosanne has been wanting to make Halloween cupcakes that she saw in a magazine. They are cute - decorated with candy to look like spiders and filled with chunks of candy bar. She began them tonight, which is a good thing because we've already eaten a bag of Snickers, a bag of peanut M&Ms and a bag of marshmallows, all of which were to go into the cupcakes. She hopes to let the kids help her decorate them, but we'll see. I used to have the same good intentions, but it's really just too hard to keep them focused. Maybe we can do them together.
